Pune: NCP MLA Sunil Tingre has raised the issue of traffic congestion caused due to the BRT route between Nagar Road and Vishrantwadi road in the winter session of the Legislative Assembly. He demanded that the BRT route be removed or allow vehicles to pass through it.

Sunil Tingre, MLA from Vadgaon Sheri constituency said that the BRT scheme was implemented in 2006 to improve public transport. However, due to urbanization, in the past few years the vehicular flow on these roads has increased.

MLA Tingre demanded to resolve the traffic jam on Nagar Road the way Chief Minister resolved the issue of traffic jam in Chandni Chowk.
While replying to MLA Tingre’s questions, Minister Uday Samant said that traffic congestion is happening on the city roads due to the metro project works. This work will be completed in six months. An expert committee will be appointed and a decision will be taken regarding the BRT scheme.
MLA Tingre also demanded to solve the traffic problem at Shivne-Kharadi road by completing the land acquisition.  The Chief Minister should order immediate action in this matter as despite the provision of funds in the municipal budget for flyovers at Kharadi Bypass, Shastrinagar Chowk and Vishrantwadi, the tender process for these works has not been started, he said.
