Pune : Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Workers Face Charges for Damaging ShopsIn a recent incident in Pune, MNS workers have been accused of vandalizing shops on JM Road and Tilak Road.

The catalyst for this action was the absence of signboards in Marathi on the storefronts. In response, Pune police have initiated separate cases against the party members involved.

The Deccan and Vishrambaug police stations have registered a case against nine individuals, including the city unit president.

Complaints were filed by two people at the Vishrambaugh Police Station.

On the day of the incident, MNS workers, led by Vagaskar, gathered and targeted signboards in English of various shops, including those selling multinational brands. Armed with bamboo sticks, protestors damaged the glass exterior of the Levis store and dismantled the English signboard.

Additionally, shops like the Maharashtra Electronics Showroom on Tilak Road that lacked Marathi signage also experienced acts of vandalism. Party members argued that these establishments had not adhered to the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) directives mandating the display of signboards in Marathi.

Assistant police inspectors are currently investigating the matter.

Police has taken action as per Sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) & Section 135 of Maharashtra Police Act
