Mohamadwadi resident loses gold chain, files FIR

Rakesh Kumar, 49, a resident of Mohamadwadi, was attacked and manhandled while on an evening walk. His chain was snatched by two unidentified persons on motorcycle in Mohamadwadi on Wednesday.

Kumar, a resident of Doorabjee Paradise, lodged a complaint in Kondhwa police station. He is working for a private company and hails from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Rakesh recalls, “For the last five years, I am residing in Pune. For the last one and half years, I am been going on regular walks after my dinner and on Wednesday night around 10, I went for a walk and while returning back home some unidentified person on a motorbike thrashed me, abused me and pulled my hair.”

He went on, “After I fell down, they snatched my chain and fled away. One of them was wearing a helmet while another had covered his face with a monkey cap. The gold chain they snatched was my mother’s gift to me and it is very precious to me. “

He added, “This incident has shaken. I am worried that if such people can target us, what they will do to women and senior citizens. I had to plead for mercy and asked them to spare my life.”

Speaking to Pune Pulse Senior inspector Sardar Patil of Kondhwa police station said, “Based on the information our team rush to the spot and inspected the CCTV cameras nearby to get clues. We have got some clues and working on it.”

The incident brings to the fore the importance of placing CCTV cameras.

Pune Pulse spoke to Naresh Sanap, electrical Inspector, Hadapsar Ward office, he said, “Action would be taken immediately to start the streetlights which are non functional.”
