Officials should focus on Kunal Icon road, say residents

As like every year this year’s rainy season is also troubling citizens. The Kunal Icon Road in Pimple Saudagar consists of many potholes, the work of construction and drainage cleaning is troubling the commuters. Already the road is encroached with local thela’s, and handcarts. Few months back all-shop vendors were shifted to Rajmata Jijau Garden, but it seems new shopkeepers have encroached the road.

“Earlier, it used to take 5 to 10 minutes to reach home from Shivar chowk but now it takes 20 to 30 minutes. Why is the road work not being completed on time? There are many potholes on the roads. The construction work and encroachments are making the road narrower. Time and fuel is getting wasted and it also causes air pollution. The road has become prone to accidents,” said Bhushan Puranik, ex-chairman Peace Valley society.

Anay Mule, a resident from Kunal Icon Society, said that the construction work should have been finished before the rainy season. “The corporation should ensure that the construction and chamber cleaning work should get finished as soon as possible,” he said.

“We started the construction of the road and the chamber cleaning long before. Due to heavy rains, the work stopped. Once the rain stops, we will try to finish the work. We can restart the work only after we get the tender. We will try to solve the problem as soon as possible.” said Shatrughna Kate, corporator.

“Due to rain, we are unable to complete the work. When we get the tender then only, we can start the work. We will try to solve the issue soon.” Said Manoj Sethiya, Executive Engineer, PCMC Smart City LImited.
