Corporator Shatrughna Kate says will ask PCMC officials to take action

The city of Pune known for its vast open spaces is slowly losing its sheen. Most open spaces in the city are becoming storage ground for either debris or water which is bringing about a whole lot of problems for the residents. An open plot besides Lakshadeep Palace housing society has accumulated rain water which has become a centre for mosquitos. Residents in the area are worried that it might create health issues for them.

“There is a private plot near our society in which a water pond has been formed due to accumulated rain water. It is certainly a matter of concern because it has become the breeding place for mosquitos,” said Nikita Agrey, a resident of Lakshdeep Palace.

“It is a private plot. We are requesting them. It is a water storage in the farmland. Water can’t be taken out. Either we can put ‘gappi fish or oil in it to stop the problem of mosquitoes. We will tell PCMC officials to take necessary action on it,” said Shatrughna Kate, the corporator.

“We will survey the area and will take the required action.” said Swapnil Shirke, Junior Engineer, D ward.
