Mosquito Tornado Hits Pune Again: Garbage Dumping Fuels Menace, Complain Residents
Chetna Raja
Pune, Maharashtra – The mosquito menace has returned to haunt residents of Godrej Infinity society in Keshav Nagar, Pune. Garbage dumping behind partition walls has exacerbated the issue, sparking concerns about public health. A disturbing video shared by Pune Pulse on social media reveals the alarming scale of garbage dumping in the area.
The footage shows a massive accumulation of trash behind the GI sheet partition walls, creating an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes. Local residents blame the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for failing to address the issue. “Garbage dumping has become a regular occurrence, and some societies are being unfairly held responsible,” said a resident while speaking with Pune Pulse.
However, it’s clear that the trash is being discarded from surrounding areas, highlighting the need for stricter waste management and enforcement. The PMC Health Department has been urged to take immediate action, penalizing those responsible for the garbage dumping. This is not the first time the area has faced this issue, and residents are frustrated with the lack of action.
The situation is dire, with residents warning that the mosquito menace could lead to diseases like dengue, malaria, and Zika virus. “This is a public health crisis waiting to happen,” warned a local resident. “We demand swift action from the authorities to address this issue.” Residents are calling for the PMC Health Department to take immediate measures to address the issue.
To address the problem, the PMC Health Department must identify and penalize those responsible for garbage dumping, implement stricter waste management practices, conduct regular clean-up drives, and educate citizens about proper waste disposal. Citizens are also urged to report garbage dumping incidents to the PMC and support efforts to keep Pune clean.
The issue has sparked widespread concern, with many taking to social media to express their outrage.
The residents of Godrej Infinity society and surrounding areas await swift action from the authorities to address the mosquito menace and ensure their health and well-being.
