MPSC Postpones Exam Amid Protests In Pune, New Date to Be Announced Soon
The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed the Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2024, originally scheduled for August 25. The decision was announced following protests by aspirants in Pune. On August 20, a group of candidates gathered outside the Ahilya Library in Navi Peth, Pune, voicing their concerns over the exclusion of 258 positions in the agriculture department from the examination. The protest was sparked by a recent MPSC notification, which ignored repeated requests from the aspirants to include these positions in the exam.
In response to the protests, the MPSC issued a statement via Twitter, confirming the postponement of the exam. The commission stated that the new date for the examination will be announced shortly.
The delay has drawn attention to the frustrations of candidates who have been advocating for these positions to be considered in the examination for the past three months. The MPSC’s decision to delay the exam highlights the ongoing challenges faced by aspirants in securing fair opportunities within the state’s civil services.
