The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has left candidates in a state of uncertainty, as they await the results of the Maharashtra Civil Services Gazetted Combined Services Exam 2023. Conducted in January 2024, the exam results were expected to be announced within a few months. However, 11 months have passed, and candidates are still waiting.

The MPSC has cited administrative difficulties and the department-wise announcement of results as the reasons for the delay. However, this explanation has failed to alleviate the concerns of the candidates. The results of the state services exam, which was conducted simultaneously, were announced three months ago, adding to the confusion and disappointment.

Candidates who appeared for 495 positions in various government departments are bearing the brunt of the delay. Many have expressed their frustration, stating that the commission’s negligence has caused them undue mental stress.

“We’re not asking for much, just a fair chance to know our results,” said one candidate. “The commission should explain the reason for the delay in a circular. If they lack resources, they should consider changing the exam format.”

Another candidate pointed out that the delay has affected their livelihood. “Some of us don’t have jobs, while others are doing odd jobs. The uncertainty is killing us. We’ve started preparing for the next exam, just in case we don’t get selected.”

MPSC secretary Suvarna Kharat attributed the delay to the descriptive nature of the exam, which requires careful evaluation by assessors. “The evaluation process is ongoing, and we’ll announce the results as soon as possible,” she said while communicating with  the media.

The delay has left candidates in a state of limbo, unsure of their future. As the wait continues, candidates can only hope that the MPSC will announce the results soon, bringing an end to their agonizing wait.
