Pune: Another accident occurred on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway involving a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus traveling from Omerga to Thane. As per the information the bus conductor, Shivraj Mali, aged 35 and a resident of Dharashiv district, lost his life in the accident. Mali was struck by a container truck with the registration number NL01AF7922 and died on the spot. The driver of the container truck Bhaskar Chaudhary also sustained injuries during the collision.

As per the information received, Mali was standing on the road without any warning indicators, attempting to guide the driver as the bus was in motion. Unfortunately, the location where they chose to halt the bus featured a sharp turn, making it challenging for the container truck approaching from behind to reduce its speed. Consequently, the collision occurred, resulting in the tragic death of the conductor.

The accident took place on the expressway at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Friday. Fortunately, no passengers on the bus sustained any injuries.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Ganesh Burkul, Police Sub-Inspector, added, “We received the report of the incident at 8:57 pm and reached the scene by 9:10 pm. Subsequently, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered in this case. We strongly urge commuters not to halt on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, as it poses significant dangers. Despite repeated warnings, illegal halting remains a persistent problem, often leading to accidents and loss of life.”
