Pune: Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is planning to give the entire charge of 35 bus stands under 15 bus depots of Pune to organizations for carrying out their upkeep and maintenance works. The comprehensive list & details of the bus stands will be shared soon.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Kailas Patil, Deputy Manager, MSRTC Pune said, “The proposals for the maintenance, repair and other works of the bus stands have been prepared at the departmental level. These stations will be adopted as per priority requirement of upkeep & maintenance.”

As per information, industry groups, trade bodies, cooperatives, factories, entrepreneurs and others can adopt bus stands. This scheme is being implemented under ‘Balasaheb Thackeray Swachh Sundar Bus Sthanak Abhiyan’. Several industrial groups, traders, cooperatives, factories, entrepreneurs etc will be given the bus stand for one year. In return for adopting/taking over a bus stand, a 10 by 10 space will be made available for that organization in front of the bus stand. In the space provided, the organization will be able to advertise their products, services etc. by setting up a temporary stall, banner or other means.

After the organization adopts a bus stand, various measures have to be taken to make the stand clean and beautiful. In this, the works of repairing the stand, painting, repairing electrical equipment, installing electric lights, and fans, repairing the toilet at the bus stand, putting guide boards on the platform at the stand, daily cleaning, beautification of the bus stand and its surroundings will be done.

Hence, MSRTC has encouraged organizations to come forward & take charge of a bus stand for its repair, upkeep & maintenance.
