Pune: Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC ) is all set to improve its services by introducing a new sleeper bus service from Pune to Nagpur. These sleeper buses are specially designed and manufactured at MSRTC’s central workshop in Pune.

As per information provided, the sleeper bus can accommodate up to 45 passengers. Out of this, 15 seats will be dedicated to sleeper berths, providing passengers with the convenience of resting during the journey. The remaining 30 seats will be designed for traditional seating. The MSRTC plans to operate two buses daily, departing at 12 pm and 5 pm from both Pune and Nagpur. It is worth noting that the route chosen for these buses will take them through Amravati, bypassing the Samruddhi Expressway.

The introduction of this sleeper bus service is expected to address the challenges faced by travellers during festive seasons, especially those commuting between Pune and Nagpur to reach their hometowns across various districts in Vidarbha. During peak periods, private travel operators often raise ticket prices significantly, making it a costly affair for passengers. In contrast, the MSRTC aims to offer more affordable rates, with a sleeper ticket on this bus priced at Rs 1400.

It is expected that these long-distance sleeper buses will be introduced in the near future on several long-distance routes. This service aims to provide commuters with a comfortable and affordable alternative to travel especially during the peak season.
