Kartik Aaryan’s films, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, have achieved remarkable success at the box office, generating substantial revenue since their release. The enduring popularity of the 2007 movie was instrumental in establishing the franchise. Nevertheless, Akshay Kumar’s absence from the sequels has sparked considerable conversation among fans, and in a recent discussion, he explained the reasons for not participating in the two subsequent films.
“Beta, mujhe nikaal diya tha (I was removed). That’s it.” Akshay Kumar responded to a fan during a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, who expressed that they chose not to watch the second and third sequels simply because Akshay was absent.
Fans may have felt let down by Khiladi Kumar’s absence in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, but they can eagerly anticipate his return in the sequel to another legendary film, Hera Pheri 3.
“Even I am waiting to start Hera Pheri 3. I don’t know, but if everything goes well, it will start this year. When we started Hera Pheri, we didn’t know it would go ahead to become such a cult. Even when I saw the film, I didn’t understand. Yes, it was funny, but none of us expected the characters of Babu Bhaiya, Raju, and Shyam to become a cult,”Akshay Kumar informs.
Kartik Aaryan previously discussed taking over Akshay Kumar’s role in the franchise during an interview with Bollywood Hungama. “I have always been a huge fan of Akshay. I don’t see myself on the same level as him. I’ve watched him since I was a child, so it feels a bit strange to be compared to him.”
The Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, created by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, began with the 2007 film featuring Vidya Balan as the witch Manjulika. The sequel, which came out in 2022, was directed by Anees Bazmee and introduced a new cast, including Kartik Aaryan as the ghostbuster Rooh Baba, alongside Kiara Advani and Tabu portraying the twin witches Manjulika and Anjulika. In the third installment released last year, Kartik reprised his role, and Vidya Balan returned from the original film. Additionally, Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri joined the ensemble.
