Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) is ready for its annual pre-monsoon maintenance and repair work, which will affect flight operations on 9th May, 2024.

As part of its contingency plan, both runways—RWY 09/27 and 14/32—will be temporarily closed from 11:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs. This routine maintenance is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations at the airport during the monsoon season.

A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued to inform all concerned parties about the temporary closure. Passengers are advised to stay informed about the status of their flights by checking with their respective airlines. It is recommended to verify any changes to their scheduled flights due to the temporary runway closure. The closure of both runways is a yearly practice undertaken by CSMIA to maintain operational continuity and uphold safety standards.

After the completion of the maintenance work, all operations will resume as usual post 17:00 hrs on 9th May, 2024.

CSMIA’s commitment to proactive maintenance ensures the smooth functioning of the airport, especially during challenging weather conditions such as the monsoon season. Passengers are encouraged to plan accordingly and stay updated on any developments related to their travel plans on 9th May, 2024.

Therefore, while the temporary closure of both runways may cause some inconvenience, it is a necessary step to ensure the safety and reliability of operations at Mumbai’s international airport.
