Mumbai Customs Zone 3 Seizes Gold and Foreign Currency Worth Rs 11 crores in 24 cases
From July 10 to 14, 2024, the Airport Commissionerate in Mumbai Customs Zone-III seized more than 13.24 kilograms of gold and electronics worth Rs. 10.33 crore, along with foreign currency valued at Rs. 0.45 crore in 24 different cases. The gold was hidden in clothes and even inside bodies. They ended up arresting seven passengers in connection with these cases.
The individuals involved in these cases went to great lengths to hide the gold in various forms. They concealed gold dust in wax, crude jewelry, and gold bars in clever ways like inside the body, between layers of clothes, and on the body. The methods used for concealment were quite intricate, making it challenging for authorities to detect them easily.
It appears that in this case, sixteen Indian nationals traveling from various locations were intercepted and found carrying a significant amount of gold and electronics concealed in different ways. The gold and electronics were hidden in the baggage, between layers of papers, in the pocket of trousers, on the body, and even inside the body of some passengers.
