A pizza delivery boy from Mumbai, who recently went viral after allegedly being harassed for not speaking Marathi, has now issued an apology at the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) office. However, the public reaction online has been anything but forgiving, with many netizens claiming the apology appears forced. The incident took place on May 12 at the Sai Radhe building in the Bhandup area of Mumbai. In the viral video, Rohit Lavare, a Domino’s delivery executive, claimed that a woman and a young man refused to pay him unless he conversed in Marathi. Lavare recorded the interaction and shared it with his Domino’s colleagues. The clip quickly gained traction across social media platforms, drawing both sympathy and outrage.

But in a twist, the situation escalated to the political stage, landing at the MNS office—a party known for its firm stance on promoting the Marathi language.

A new video has surfaced showing Lavare at the MNS office, apologising while several party members record him on their phones. In the footage, he states, “I did not do this intentionally. I sent it to a Domino’s group, and it became viral. Ma’am did make the payment. Let’s not have any more misunderstandings. Please make the video viral.”

One of the MNS leaders then instructs him to apologise directly to the woman involved in the incident. The delivery boy complies, turning to the camera and saying, “Ma’am bahot acchi hai, bhai. Please aisa mat karo.”(Ma’am is very nice. Please don’t do this) He further clarifies that the people in the original video were not a couple, as some reports suggested, but rather mother and son.

As the video continues, another MNS worker nudges him about his earlier comments regarding Marathi. Lavare responds: “Main Marathi bolunga bhi. Aur seekhunga bhi. Jai Hind. Jai Maharashtra.”

The person who posted the apology video on X (formerly Twitter) captioned it with a strong endorsement of the MNS, writing, “That’s what you get when you don’t respect our culture and language!”

However, this public apology has not convinced everyone. Many users online raised concerns about the setting and tone of the video.

“Kanpati pe gun rakh ke koi bhi kuch bhi bulva sakta hai!!!” one user wrote, implying that the delivery boy may have been pressured into retracting his original claims.

Another questioned the woman’s choice of cuisine amid the language demand: “Why is she ordering Italian food? Order Maharashtrian food. Will these people have the audacity to impose the language on someone who’s equal in status? They just oppress people like delivery boys, security guards. So shameful.”

Suspicion over political involvement also grew. One comment read, “No wonder they did not go to the police to make their complaint but were smart enough with the political party. Makes me wonder what is the real truth about this issue.”

Criticism of MNS tactics continued across Reddit and X. “You’re so proud at targeting this guy with all the might of bullies? Shame on such cowards in packs,” one user wrote, adding, “Don’t force your chauvinism. Or challenge richer people. Not vulnerable delivery boys.”

Others questioned the entire motive behind the video. “This video proves it even further that he was right and now he is being threatened for it,” wrote one person.

Another added, “Jabardasti kya hai bhai. Agar nhi ata hai, nhi bolega. Govt. should take it seriously.”

Disillusionment with the political handling of the situation was also evident. A Reddit user shared: “This is not my Maharashtra. That’s the reason why this political party drawn zero in the last election. Only way to stay relevant they do this stupidity.”

While the video may have been intended to end the controversy, it seems to have only intensified the public’s concerns about coercion, political pressure, and cultural intolerance. The story continues to stir debate across social media platforms, with many questioning not just the apology — but the power dynamics behind it.
