In a heartwarming moment that has struck a chord online, a family in Mumbai celebrated their son’s Class 10 exam result with a unique marksheet-themed cake — despite him scoring 55 percent.

The celebration, centred around student Mohammed Zaid, has gone viral on social media for its powerful message of encouragement over academic pressure. Videos shared online showed family members cheering as Zaid entered smiling and cut the specially designed cake amid applause.

The cake featured details resembling an actual marksheet, including Zaid’s name, his parents’ names, roll number and subject-wise marks. He scored 57 in English, 44 in Marathi, 56 in Hindi, 59 in Mathematics, 55 in Science and Technology, and 49 in Social Sciences, securing a total of 276 out of 500.

While the marks may not have been considered extraordinary by conventional standards, the family’s gesture drew widespread praise online. Many social media users said the emotional support shown by the family mattered far more than the percentage itself.

“Even with 84%, I never got this much celebration or respect,” one user commented. Another wrote, “I scored 95% in Class 10 and 94.8% in Class 12, but never received this kind of treatment.”

Several others applauded the family for prioritising happiness and emotional well-being over academic expectations. “This is how every parent should celebrate,” another user remarked.

Responding to the overwhelming reactions, Ruksar Patel, a member of Zaid’s family who shared the video online, explained the reason behind the celebration.

“For me, my child’s 55 marks are greater than 95 or 85. Instead of scolding him or making him feel bad, I want to keep him happy so that he never feels less than anyone else. There are many parents who have lost their children after saying hurtful things like this,” she said.

At a time when conversations around student mental health and academic stress continue to gain attention across the country, the family’s gesture has resonated with many people online — not because of the score itself, but because of the message of unconditional support behind it.
