Mumbai News: Lilavati Hospital Trustees Allege ₹1,200 Crore Fraud, Black Magic Rituals; Human Remains Discovered
Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital is at the center of a major controversy as its trustees have accused former members of the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust of misappropriating funds amounting to Rs 1,200 crore. The allegations also include claims of black magic rituals conducted within the hospital premises.
Financial Irregularities and Legal Action
The current trustees have filed multiple complaints with the police and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), leading to the registration of three FIRs against the former trustees. They claim that financial mismanagement has severely impacted operations at the Bandra-based hospital.
“More than three FIRs have been filed against the former trustees and associated individuals. A fourth legal proceeding is currently pending before the Learned Magistrate, based on our complaint lodged at the Bandra Police Station regarding black magic and occult practices,” said Prashant Mehta, the trust’s Permanent Resident Trustee.
He further emphasized the trust’s commitment to transparency and accountability. “We are dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust and ensuring that hospital funds serve the intended purpose of patient care. The forensic audit has exposed gross financial misconduct, which not only betrays public trust but also threatens the hospital’s core mission.”
Forensic Audit Findings
The current trustees assumed control of the trust after prolonged legal disputes. A forensic audit conducted by Chetan Dalal Investigation and Management Services and ADB and Associates uncovered large-scale financial irregularities.
“The auditors have produced over five reports that indicate more than Rs 1,500 crore was siphoned off by the previous trustees, many of whom are NRIs residing in Dubai and Belgium,” Mehta alleged.
According to the findings, the alleged financial misconduct involved illicit dealings with third-party distributors and the misuse of trust funds for personal gains.
Black Magic Allegations
In a shocking revelation, Parambir Singh, Executive Director of Lilavati Hospital and former Mumbai Police Commissioner, stated that disturbing items linked to black magic were discovered beneath the office of the current trustees.
“Some employees informed us that items related to occult practices had been buried under the floor of the trustees’ office. In the presence of witnesses and under videography, we excavated the area and found eight urns containing human remains, bones, hair, rice, and other materials associated with black magic rituals,” Singh revealed.
The trustees initially approached the police to register a case under Maharashtra’s anti-superstition law. When the authorities declined, they moved to court, which then ordered an investigation into the matter.
Ongoing Investigation
The financial misappropriation and black magic allegations have triggered widespread scrutiny. Authorities are continuing their probe, while the hospital trustees vow to restore transparency and accountability within the institution.
The unfolding controversy raises serious concerns about governance within charitable medical institutions and highlights the need for stringent financial oversight.
