PUNE: The iconic non-AC double-decker bus service, which holds a significant place in the history of Mumbai, has ended. The bus had been in continuous operation from 1937 until 2023.

Following its final journey, numerous individuals have expressed their sentiments towards the bus, with industrialist Anand Mahindra’s tweet garnering particular attention. 

After bidding farewell to the people of Mumbai, Mahindra took to Twitter to file a complaint with the Mumbai Police, stating, “Hello Mumbai Police… I would like to report that these are the most important and unforgettable memories of my life.” His tweet has since gained widespread media coverage. 

The double-decker bus holds a special place in the memories of many Mumbaikars, having witnessed numerous significant events throughout its long service. 

From the pre-independence era to the post-independence period, the bus has been present for the struggle for a united Maharashtra, as well as the social, economic, and political changes that have occurred over the years.
