BJP’s Murlidhar Mohol emerged as winner in the Pune Lok Sabha seat with a margin of approximately 1 lakh votes, while Congress’s Ravindra Dhangekar trailed with 271,721 votes. Following the death of BJP’s sitting MP Girish Bapat, the party fielded former mayor Murlidhar Mohol for this election. Congress chose legislator Ravindra Dhangekar, a well-known figure who previously defeated the BJP in the Kasba assembly bypoll last year.

Dr Amol Kolhe, a Nationalist Congress Party (SP) faction, led the election in Shirur constituency against Shinde Sena’s three time MP Shivaji Adhalrao Patil. He also supported the NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar.

The intense battle in Pune was eclipsed by the fierce campaign in neighboring Baramati, the stronghold of the Pawar family. Here, Supriya Sule, a three-term MP and daughter of Sharad Pawar, faced off against Sunetra Pawar, the wife of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. Baramati has been a bastion for the Pawar family for decades, with Pawar Sr. representing the constituency six times before passing the baton to Sule in 2009.
