Pune: Heavy rains have disrupted life in Nagpur with thunderbolts during the night and 106 mm of rain was recorded in one night.

As per information, due to continuous heavy rains, water has entered many deep areas of the city and many houses in Nagalwadi, Ambazari Corporation Colony are submerged in waist-deep water. The Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert in Nagpur. Also, power supply has been interrupted in many areas.

Due to continuous rains in Nagpur since 2 a.m., a large amount of water has accumulated in the low-lying areas of the city. The Ambazari lake has overflowed and the disaster management team of the district and metropolitan administration is working. Nagpur collector and Commissioner of Municipal Corporation inspected many parts of the city this morning. The Disaster Management Department is monitoring the situation in the city and district. Hence, Nagpur District & Metropolitan Area Collector Dr Vipin Itankar has declared a holiday on September 23 for all the schools in the district.

One team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is deployed at Nagpur in the Ambazari Lake area to keep close vigilance & rescue some people who might have got stuck up. Team NDRF is helping them out and rescuing them. As of now, six persons have been rescued.
