Nashik: A CCTV video showing the shocking abduction of a young woman in Nashik went viral on social media, sparking outrage. The footage depicted a dramatic scene where a mother and daughter were walking on the road when a man suddenly ran towards them. Moments later, a car arrived, and the girl was forcibly taken away by a group of men. The video led many to believe it was a case of a violent kidnapping. However, further investigation uncovered a different story.
Kidnapping by Husband After Marital Dispute
According to police reports, the incident involved a married couple who had a love marriage but were facing conflicts. Due to ongoing disputes, the 19-year-old wife had left her husband and returned to her maternal home. Allegedly, the husband, with the help of his friends, abducted her while she was walking with her mother. The mother later reported the incident to the police, accusing her son-in-law of kidnapping.
The viral video showed the woman’s mother being pushed aside as the accused forcefully dragged his wife into a four-wheeler before speeding away. The incident occurred on March 19 near the Pangri bus stop on the Sinnar-Shirdi road.
Police Take Swift Action
Upon receiving the report, police launched an immediate investigation. The abducted woman was rescued from the Shirdi bus stand area, and her husband, identified as Vaibhav Pawar, was arrested. A case has been registered against him at the Wavi Police Station in Sinnar. Meanwhile, authorities are actively searching for his accomplices, who are currently on the run.
