Maharashtra is experiencing a significant change in weather conditions, with a rising heatwave and isolated thunderstorm warnings. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for unseasonal rain with thunderstorms in Latur, Nanded, Solapur, and Dharashiv. Additionally, Vidarbha is likely to witness strong winds and stormy conditions. The state is expected to see rising temperatures, with some regions recording over 39°C.

Heatwave Returns After a Brief Cool Spell

Over the past few days, Maharashtra has seen fluctuating weather patterns. While the IMD had previously predicted an increase in heat after Holi, certain regions experienced unexpected rainfall, leading to a temporary drop in temperature. However, with unseasonal cloud cover now clearing, a rise in heat is once again being observed across the state.

Thunderstorm Alert in Select Regions

According to the IMD, isolated thunderstorms are expected today in parts of Marathwada and Central Maharashtra. Areas including Nanded, Dharashiv, and Latur may witness lightning and gusty winds blowing at speeds of 30-40 km/h. In Vidarbha, winds could intensify to 40-50 km/h, increasing the chances of thunderstorms and rain.

Temperature Soars in Several Districts

Regions such as Parbhani, Nagpur, Dhule, Akola, Chandrapur, Washim, Yavatmal, Sangli, and Bhandara have recorded temperatures exceeding 39°C. The persistent cloudy conditions are contributing to higher humidity and discomfort. In Pune, the temperature is expected to rise further, while Mumbai has seen a relatively stable temperature trend, although midday heat is expected to be more intense today.

Yellow Alert for Thunderstorms

The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for thunderstorms with lightning in Latur, Nanded, Solapur, and Dharashiv. Latur has already experienced unseasonal rainfall, and Chandrapur, which had been witnessing high temperatures, saw brief showers that provided temporary relief. However, with the mercury rising again, residents are advised to take necessary precautions while stepping out.
