Pune, May 18, 2026: In a major development in the shocking Nasrapur minor rape and murder case, Pune Rural Police has filed a detailed 1,200-page chargesheet against the accused, 65-year-old Bhimrao Prabhakar Kamble, within just 15 days of the crime.

Police officials said the chargesheet was submitted before a special court on Saturday evening after an intensive investigation supported by forensic and technical evidence.

The horrific incident took place on May 1 in Nasrapur in Bhor taluka of Pune district. The three-and-a-half-year-old girl had come to her grandmother’s house for summer vacation when she went missing in the afternoon.

According to the investigation, CCTV footage showed the accused allegedly luring the child to a nearby cowshed by promising to show her a newborn calf. Police said the accused sexually assaulted the girl, killed her by attacking her with a stone and later hid the body under cow dung.

The brutal crime triggered massive outrage across Maharashtra, with protests, bandh calls and a prolonged blockade on the Pune-Bengaluru highway as citizens demanded the harshest punishment for the accused.

The investigation was supervised by Sandeep Singh Gill. Officials said statements from more than 50 witnesses were recorded during the probe, including testimonies from three children aged between 10 and 11 years who reportedly saw the accused taking the victim toward the crime scene.

Following his arrest by Rajgad Police, the accused has been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including kidnapping, rape, murder and assault-related charges. Stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have also been invoked.

SP Gill said the police conducted a thorough and sensitive investigation to ensure there were no loopholes in the case. He added that authorities would seek a fast-track day-to-day trial in the special court in line with directives issued by the Bombay High Court and the National Mission for Safety of Women
