NCP Pune holds protest against PMC over inadequate water supply in Parvati

Nationalist Congress Party, Pune on Tuesday held an indefinite strike against Pune Municipal Corporation for failing to provide adequate water supply to the city.

The protest saw the presence of Prashant Jagtap, president, NCP Pune, Ankush Kakade, senior NCP leader and Santosh Nangare, Parvati Constituency, NCP, Pune.

Jagtap while addressing the media said, “PMC has failed to provide adequate water supply to the citizens. Ever since, the PMC has been under the leadership of the administrator Pune citizens have been facing severe inconvenience. With the G20 summit in Pune the administration has undertaken many projects which too they have failed to deliver. Citizens are being fooled under the name of development. We are fighting to provide justice to the citizens by demanding their basic right adequate water supply.”

Jagtap further added that the party has demanded an action plan on many projects and services including water supply, which is a burning issue for the citizens.

Acting upon the protest held by NCP, the water department officials have assured to resolve various water supply related issues during the closure planned on January 19.

Meanwhile, a Pune based NGO, Sajag Nagrik Manch has written to PMC on Tuesday citing that with the G20 summit in Pune, the city is beautifully decorated to please the delegates but this has been done at the cost of cutting down the water supply of the entire city during the next two days, which is an injustice and also a great inconvenience.
