The state government recently announced merger of 23 villages in the Pune Municipal Corporation jurisdiction.

Nationalist Congress Party has raised objection over new Development Plan for these newly merged villages. Also, NCP has alleged that the special general body meeting to be held on July 15, 2021 is not authorised as the leader of the opposition Deepali Dhumal has not been informed about the same which is against the law.

Prashant Jagtap, president, Nationalist Congress Party, Pune informed that the special general body meeting called for the development plan is not justified.

Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority has been designing the development plan which is also working on the plan for newly merged 23 villages. The work on this plan has been in progress for the last three years. But PMC officials have been purposely neglecting the work done by PMRDA. Creating DP plan is a time consuming process with this neglect of the plan what is the hidden agenda of the Bharatiya Janata party, said Prashant Jagtap, raising doubts over the actions on the dp plan of 23 villages.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on June 30, 2021 announced the merger of 23 villages in PMC. It was infact due to the delay and neglect of the then chief minister Devendra Fadanvis who didn’t let the merger happen. While Fadanvis was in the government, under the Metropolitan Planning Committee Law 1999, development plan for 23 villages under PMRDA. In the year 2016, while PMC ‘s revised plan was being presented for approval Fadanvis had called for it in the assembly. It seems the BJP has forgotten this now. Time has come to remind. BJP should first release the plan for the 11 villages which have been merged in PMC in the past. The recently called special general body meeting is illegal as per the section 451. We shall all raise this with the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, Nagar Vikas mantri Eknath Shinde and demand for justice to the citizens of Pune city.
