NDA Cadets Successfully Conquer Hike to Indira Col: India’s Northernmost Corner

National Defence Academy will be completing 75 years of service to the nation on 16 Jan 24. To commemorate ‘75 Glorious Years of National Defence Academy’, year-long schedule of events including hikes to four corners of India are being undertaken by cadets of NDA. The visit to the Northern most corner of India – Indira Col was undertaken from  31 May 23 to 13 Jun 23 by  a team of 10 cadets and 03 instructors of NDA.

The team took off from Pune on 31 May 23 and reached Siachen Base Camp routing through Leh and Thoise. The team landed at the Siachen Base Camp on 09 Jun 23 and interacted with forward deployed troops and paid homage at Siachen War Memorial. Thereafter, they undertook aerial reconnaissance of Indira Col and Siachen Glacier by MI-17 helicopter. The hike provided an opportunity to the cadets to experience field conditions at the highest battlefield of the world.

During the transit enroute, the Cadets of NDA also interacted with students of Ladakh University and Army Public School, Leh which served to motivate and inspire the students to join the Armed forces.
