New airport will be constructed at Purandar in Pune district: Devendra Fadnavis

In Maharashtra too, the state government is trying to create a network of airports by developing airport runways. A new airport will be constructed at Purandar in Pune district. Land acquisition will soon be started. An airport and a cargo center will be set up at Purandar where industries can develop a new supply chain and employment will be boosted. Considering the growing expansion of Pune, this airport is necessary and it will increase the GDP of Pune by 2 percent, said Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

As per further information from the X handle of Devendra Fadnavis “Since Pune is the important base of the Air Force, the runway here needs to be closed often. Therefore, keeping in mind the need for expansion of aviation services, a new airport will be constructed at Purandar. The land acquisition will be started soon. An airport and cargo centre will be set up at Purandar which will enable industries to develop new supply chains and boost employment. Considering the increasing expansion of Pune, this airport is necessary and it will increase the GDP of Pune by 2%.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new integrated terminal building of Pune Airport at Lohegaon. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, MP Medha Kulkarni, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil were present.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is simultaneously inaugurating 14 airport projects costing Rs 10,000 crore and ground breaking. Pune residents have been demanding a terminal befitting the name of Pune for a long time. Girish Bapat also approached the central government for the location of the new terminal building. This terminal has a capacity of 1000 cars, 34 check-in counters, and an annual passenger capacity of 90 lakhs. Also, a grand equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been erected in the area. Instructions have been given to start the facilities of the new terminal in April. Along with constructing a new airport in Pune district, it is being considered to extend the existing runway. In his speech, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed the view that radical changes are taking place in the country as he is a visionary Prime Minister.
