New electrical sub station of 1600 KVA commissioned at Pune railway station

Pune railway division is striving hard in achieving new goals in electrical energy savings by adopting new technologies. 

In continuation to this a new & advanced centralized sub station having capacity of 1600 KVA installed at Pune station has been commissioned in the presence of Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dubey on Wednesday 6 September. 

Additional Divisional Railway Manager Brijesh Kumar Singh & Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer Tarun Suyal also attended the function.

       This new substation is designed for reliability and reduced down time ensuring a more stable & continuous power supply for Pune station, Railway hospital,Running room and goods shed which has approximate annual electrical consumption of 17 lakh units. 

The new substation will help in annual savings of electricity bills of approximately Rs. 06.80 Lakhs. 

         New substation is fitted with latest technology equipments & based on traction sub station theme which is first of its type on central railway to operate at increased efficiency level up to 99%. 

This will result in reduced energy losses and cost savings. The substation is provided with two incoming power supply feeders by MSEDCL.

      The new substation is replaced two substations of total 800 KVA capacity. It is provided with double capacity will allow for better handling of the electrical load, future expansion needs for electricity. 

The modern equipment in the new substation is designed for reliability and reduced down time insuring a more stable power supply. 

It is equipped with enhanced safety features and better protection mechanism reducing the risk of electrical failure. New substation is also equipped with SCADA systems offers several benefits like remote monitoring and control data recording for diagnosis etc.   

       On this occasion, tree plantation is also done at the hands Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dubey.
