The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is looking into creating a unified platform for content creators to showcase their talents, according to I&B special secretary Neerja Shekhar. This platform will be based on the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) and aims to provide equal opportunities for content creators across various fields.

She emphasized the importance of growth, promotion, and distribution of content in different segments such as documentaries, podcasts, reels, comics, and VFX. She noted that each type of content requires its own marketplace and that action needs to be taken to address this need. She also pointed out that there are numerous sub-segments within the media and entertainment industry, particularly in creative content creation, which are niche and require their own space to flourish. For instance, radio differs from television, and there are various branches under the media umbrella, including advertising, films, and comics. She was speaking at the roadshow organized by the Indian Digital Gaming Society and the Confederation of Indian Industries on Wednesday.

The roadshow aimed to boost involvement from artists and tech experts from Pune for WAVES, set to be held in New Delhi from February 5 to 9.

The summit focuses on four main sub-segments: broadcast and infotainment, AVGC-XR, digital media and innovations, and films. The AVGC-XR segment encompasses animation, visual effects, gaming and e-sports, comics, virtual reality, and the metaverse. Digital media covers social media platforms, OTT platforms, and influencers. Content creators from all over the world can take part in the summit across various categories, including film poster creation, ad spend optimization, AI art installations, community radio, music, and emerging technologies.
