The untimely rains that caused havoc on December 1, left citizens with power cut in many areas. NIBM road, Kausarbaugh, Sahyadri Park and other adjoining areas had no power for 48 hours.
Troubled residents made calls to the NIBM MSEDCL Center but often got no response.

Melvin Joel, a resident of Kubera Colony said, “Lights went off on December 1 night and resumed on December 3, 2.20 am. Most of us in our society were left with no power for such a long time. People working in the IT companies had a tough time to stay online in such tricky conditions. The response to the complaints is very poor on the toll free number.”

Speaking to Pune Pulse, NIBM road Corporator Nanda Lonkar said, “Residents started making frantic calls as the power remained off for a long period. When I spoke at the MSEDCL office on NIBM road they informed that many transformers faced severe problems and hence power supply remained off. Dhamal madam and my team remained on the field working out to resolve the issue from December 2, 11.30 pm till 2 am on December 3.”

Mona Verma, a resident of Sahyadri Park, complained, “There was power cut for more than 24 hours , some residents in the neighborhood had only single phase working which also had low voltage.”

When Pune Pulse spoke to an MSEDCL official he shared that power supply was cut of due to problems in transformer near Natasha Enclave, our men at work supplied back feeding after few hours to many societies, also cable line of around 200 to 300 meters was also newly laid. Our men including officials were on field for 48 hours to resolve the issue. Also consumer should call on the toll free number to raise the power concern.”
