NIBM Road : Residents Protest Against PMC’s Negligence in Providing Basic Facilities

Over 150 people participated in a protest today morning against the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) due to their failure in delivering essential amenities in the area. The residents gathered near Clover Palisades society, on NIBM Undri Road in Kondhwa demanding safe roads and access to drinking water.

The protest aimed to highlight the civic body’s neglect of the basic issues affecting the residents. Colonel Tariq Rashid, a California society resident, expressed his frustration, urging the PMC to take responsibility for the city and fulfill its duties by providing safe and accessible roads.

Sukhbir Sangra, a Winspire society resident, emphasized the importance of well-maintained and obstacle-free roads. He called upon the PMC to devise a proper plan to ensure the road’s safety and drivability, as it currently poses difficulties for all commuters.

Pooja Chheda, residing on NIBM Undri road, expressed her horror at the deteriorating condition of the road. She lamented the lack of basic amenities in the area, highlighting the residents’ deprivation.

Parveen Tambe, representing the NIBM Undri Road Residents Forum, clarified that the protest aimed to shed light on the numerous challenges faced by the residents. Issues such as road conditions, inadequate drinking water supply, and the absence of safety measures have left citizens frustrated.

Shekhar Dhotre, an Undri resident, questioned the absence of essential infrastructure in the area. Undri residents have long-awaited basic amenities, including drinking water supply, proper roads, and community spaces like gardens.

Prajakta Pethkar, a Palace Orchard resident, criticized the PMC for neglecting the area for the past two decades. Despite paying high taxes, the residents have been fighting for fundamental amenities, showcasing the persistent shortcomings of the PMC.

The protest also saw attendance of former corporator of Nanda Lonkar, NIBM road who assured to resolve the issues by announcing that reflectors and a high mast street lamp would be installed to illuminate the area near Clover Palisades and also to alert the residents about the road divider.,
