In an alarming incident on Sunday morning, a contractor affiliated with the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) fell victim to a brutal assault by a group of individuals. The victim, identified as Nafees Salin Shaikh, was targeted due to his prior complaint against the assailants, lodged at the local police station.

The assault occurred around 8:15 AM in the Otaskim area of Nigdi, where Shaikh resides in the Tathagata Housing Society. The assailants, later identified as Arbaz Sheikh, Munna alias Faiyaz Shaikh, Kalwa alias Sarfaraz Sheikh, and Riyaz Sheikh, assembled outside Shaikh’s residence, initiating a barrage of verbal abuse directed at him.

Responding to the commotion, Shaikh emerged from his home to address the situation, only to be confronted by the accused regarding his recent complaint. Following the incident, the Nigdi Police promptly intervened, leading to the apprehension of the four accused individuals. They have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), along with relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.

The Nigdi Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure that justice is served and to prevent any further instances of violence or retaliation.
