Nigdi Gets New Oxygen Park As Thousands Join Hands For A Greener FutureĀ
Pimpri-Chinchwad, April 3, 2026: An Oxygen Park developed through joint efforts of citizens and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was inaugurated in Nigdi amid the presence of thousands of residents, marking a significant step toward environmental conservation in the city.
The park, located in Sector 26 of Nigdi Pradhikaran, was inaugurated by Mayor Ravi Landge. Speaking at the event, he emphasized that citizen participation is key to sustainable urban development and described the project as a model eco-friendly initiative. He added that similar parks would be developed in 25 to 30 gardens out of the cityās total 203 parks through public participation.
Several dignitaries, including MLA Amit Gorakhe, Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, Opposition Leader Bhausaheb Bhoir, and Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, attended the inauguration along with civic officials and local residents.
On the occasion, attendees participated in a tree plantation drive and took the āMy Vasundharaā pledge, committing to protect the environment, maintain cleanliness, and promote greenery. Citizens vowed to plant more trees and avoid activities harmful to nature.
Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar stated that such community-driven green spaces are valuable assets for future generations. Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi highlighted the importance of preserving green areas amid rapid urbanisation, noting that such initiatives will help maintain ecological balance and strengthen the vision of a greener city.
