Nitin Gadkari to Unveil Rs.2,500 Crore Road Projects and Cable-Stayed Bridge in Goa
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will visit Goa on January 21 to lay the foundation stone for four highway expansion projects worth ₹2,500 crore. The projects aim to improve connectivity and boost infrastructure in the state.
Gadkari will also inaugurate India’s first cable-stayed bridge built on a curve. The bridge connects Sada to Varunapuri / Goa International Airport.
One of the key projects includes the four-lane Loop 2 road on NH-17B. This will connect the Mormugao Port Authority’s (MPA) gate 9 and support the port’s business expansion.
Recently, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) approved multiple highway projects. These include:
- – ₹747 crore for four-laning a 7.2 km stretch of NH 66 from the end of Margao bypass to Cuncolim.
- – ₹1,376 crore for four-laning a 22.1 km stretch from Bendordem to the Canacona bypass and from the end of the Canacona bypass to the Karnataka border at Polem.
The new national highway projects will improve connectivity along the Mumbai-Kanyakumari corridor, enhancing travel and trade routes.
Gadkari will also lay the foundation stone for a ₹455.5 crore four-lane flyover. The flyover will extend 3.3 km from MES College junction to Bogmalo junction on NH 566.
These developments are expected to strengthen Goa’s road infrastructure and support regional economic growth.
