No-Vehicle Zones and Road Closures: Traffic Updates for Pune’s New Year’s Eve Celebrations ( Representative Image )
Pune Police have announced significant traffic changes in Camp and Deccan Gymkhana areas for New Year’s Eve to manage large crowds gathering for celebrations. Key roads will be converted into ‘No Vehicle Zones,’ and strict checks for drunk driving will be conducted across the city.
The traffic restrictions will begin at 5 PM on December 31 and remain in force until the crowds disperse. Fergusson College Road and Mahatma Gandhi Road will be designated as ‘No Vehicle Zones.’
Traffic Diversions and Road Closures
- – Fergusson College Road: Traffic from Good Luck Hotel Chowk to Fergusson College Main Gate will be stopped.
- – Mahatma Gandhi Road: From 15 August Chowk to Aurora Towers, vehicles will be diverted via Qureshi Masjid and Sujata Mastani Chowk.
- – Traffic from ISKCON Temple Chowk to Aurora Towers will be blocked.
- – Vehicles from Volga Chowk to Mohammad Rafi Chowk will be rerouted through East Street Road.
- – Traffic from Indira Gandhi Chowk to Mahavir Chowk will be diverted via Lashkar Police Station Chowk.
- – Movement from Sarbatwala Chowk to Mahavir Chowk will be redirected through Taboot Street.
Deccan Area Diversions
- – Traffic heading towards Fergusson College Road from Kothrud will be redirected via Law College Road and Alka Talkies Chowk.
- – Vehicles accessing Fergusson College Road via JM Road will face restrictions at Rani Jhansi Chowk.
Drunk Driving Checks
- Intensive checks for drunk driving will start on December 31 using hygienic disposable breathalyzers.
Parking Prohibited
Parking will be banned from 5 PM on December 31 to 5 AM on January 1 on Fergusson College Road and Mahatma Gandhi Road.
Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Amol Zende urged citizens to follow the rules for smoother celebrations.
