Mumbai, September 14 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday said his government is making positive efforts regarding the Maratha reservation issue and appealed to the Maratha community not to fall victim to any propaganda.

The issues and incidents are being circulated on social media these days, the chief minister said and warned that nobody should try to disturb the peaceful atmohsphere prevailing in the state.

“Our government is taking a firm stance and decision on this sensitive issue. It is not appropriate to create misunderstandings in the society through social media and tarnish the image of the government,” he said.

“When I and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were having a discussion on the issues held after the all-party meeting on Maratha reservation, it is very mischievous to edit our conversation wrongly on ‘social media’ which is further confusing to people,” he said.

The government has been sensitive about the Maratha reservation from the beginning and is working on giving reservation as per the framework of the law, said Shinde.
