Noise pollution : Pune police takes against popular restaurants and bars for causing noise pollution

The social security cell of the Pune city police has taken swift action against hotels and pubs in the Koregaon Park neighborhood, known for its nightlife, seizing sound equipment worth Rs 37 lakh in the last three months. This crackdown comes as a relief to residents who have been experiencing constant disruptions to their daily lives due to the pulse-pounding beats of music emanating from these establishments.

The police received nine complaints regarding businesses in Koregaon Park, but they took action against establishments in other areas as well.

The latest raid on April 24 saw the Talli Bar and Kitchen in Koregaon Park facing the police’s ire, with sound equipment worth Rs 4.80 lakh seized, and a case registered against the owner and manager of the establishment.

Residents in Koregaon Park, Viman Nagar, and NIBM road, Wanowrie, Undri, Mohammedwadi, Baner, Balewadi, have expressed their relief, as the police have finally taken their concerns seriously.

It was just recently that the residents of Koregaon Park, Kalyani Nagar, Vadgaon Sheri had organised a meeting to discuss various issues caused by the eateries that have come in the past few years which are more of an inconvenience. The residents demanded answers from the Police officials stating on what basis are these eateries given permissions to open in heavily populated residential areas and why weren’t the residents’ permission sought ?

Over the past three months, the police have successfully registered 15 cases, resulting in the seizure of equipment worth Rs 37.80 lakh, demonstrating their commitment to protecting those who may be at risk and promoting a safer community for all.
