Pune/Solapur, June 15 – A dreaded criminal wanted in multiple serious offences, including a recent armed robbery in Pune, was killed in an encounter with the Pune City Police in Solapur district early Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Rahim Shaikh, also known by his aliases Shahrukh and Hatti. He had been absconding for over five months and was booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Acting on specific intelligence, a team from the Pune Police Crime Branch, with assistance from Mohol Police Station, tracked Hatti to Lamboti village in Mohol taluka, Solapur district. The team intercepted him around 5 am on Sunday.

Hatti and an accomplice, Noman Sayyad (20), were identified as the culprits in the case. While Sayyad was arrested shortly after, Hatti managed to escape.
