New Delhi, May 9, 2025 – Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply escalated following India’s bold counter-terror operation, Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives.

In a significant development, the Indian government has confirmed that Pakistan used Turkish-made drones equipped with surveillance cameras in its attempted attacks on Indian military infrastructure. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the move as “blatant aggression,” emphasizing the seriousness of the cross-border provocation.

On Thursday night, Pakistan unleashed a wave of artillery shelling, drone incursions, and missile strikes, targeting several Indian installations in Jammu, including a vital airstrip. However, India’s advanced air defence systems intercepted and neutralized nearly all drones before they could inflict damage.

In response, India carried out precision strikes on nine terror targets across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Multiple Indian drones also flew over Islamabad, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, relaying real-time visuals as Indian forces took decisive action. Notably, an F-16 fighter jet from Pakistan was shot down over Rajasthan, reinforcing India’s robust defence posture.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened a high-level security review with the chiefs of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Chief of Defence Staff, assessing the ongoing national security situation.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held direct talks with the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Punjab, monitoring border security. The Gujarat government has also imposed a ban on firecrackers and drones in public events until further notice.

India’s swift and calibrated response under Operation Sindoor underscores its zero-tolerance stance on terror and aggression.
