Mumbai, May 9, 2025 – A cloud of grief hangs over Ghatkopar’s Kamraj Nagar after the tragic death of Army jawan Murali Naik, who was martyred in a Pakistani drone strike along the Line of Control (LoC) near Uri in Jammu early Friday morning. He was just 23 years old.

Naik, originally from Kafidanda village in Sri Sathya Sai district, Andhra Pradesh, had been living in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar and joined the Indian Army in 2022. His brave sacrifice has deeply impacted the local community.

The drone attack, which occurred around 3:00 AM, came amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. This follows India’s recent strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan after the deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Since Thursday night, Pakistan has retaliated with multiple drone and missile attacks, causing casualties among both military personnel and civilians.

Tributes have poured in from across political lines. ABVP Ghatkopar posted a tribute on X, while BJP leader Ganesh Kunder and Congress member Dharmesh J. Soni expressed heartfelt condolences, praying for strength for Naik’s grieving family.

Naik’s family currently resides in Andhra Pradesh, and details about the funeral are awaited. The nation salutes the bravery of yet another young soldier who laid down his life in the service of the country.
