Over 100 Passengers Stranded as SpiceJet Cancels Pune Flights
More than 100 passengers faced disruptions at Pune Airport after two SpiceJet flights were canceled on Monday night and Tuesday morning. The affected flights included a Pune-Ahmedabad service on Monday and a Pune-Bhavnagar flight on Tuesday. The sudden cancellations left passengers stranded and frustrated.
A passenger bound for Ahmedabad had planned to attend a wedding in Mount Abu and had booked a connecting train. His flight was scheduled to depart at 7:35 PM and land in Ahmedabad by 8:55 PM, allowing enough time for his train at 10 PM. He arrived at the airport early, checked in, and waited near the boarding gate with 50-60 others. However, there were no airline representatives.
Just 15 minutes before departure, passengers were informed that the flight was rescheduled to 11:15 PM due to a technical issue. No alternative arrangements were provided. As last-minute tickets were expensive, many were unable to reach their destinations on time.
On Tuesday morning, nearly 70 passengers booked for Bhavnagar faced a similar ordeal. One traveler said he only learned about the cancellation after reaching the airport. No SpiceJet staff were available, and a third-party agency handled the situation. The representatives present were unhelpful, and passengers were left without clear answers. Some had to book alternate flights at their own expense.
SpiceJet acknowledged the cancellations, stating that passengers were informed in advance and provided alternative travel options. The airline claimed affected travelers were offered hotel accommodations, refreshments, and rebooked on a flight.
