The much-awaited road resurfacing work of the parallel road to Ganga Satellite bridge on Bhairoba Nala began on Tuesday afternoon. The work was on hold as the Pune Municipal Corporation’s plant was closed for the past few weeks.

A PMC official said that the road is now open for public to drive. It was closed for resurfacing in the past.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Kalinda Punde, former local corporator, Wanowrie informed that the work for starting the resurfacing was expedited only when Cantonment assembly MLA Sunil Kamble intervened and followed up with the Pune Cantonment Board as well as various Defence authorities in Pune and outside.
“I am happy that the road was completed after 15 years of gap and that this road will now resolve the traffic congestion problems too in Wanowrie. With the bridge going on simultaneously, both roads would prove beneficial for motorists,” she said.

Prashant Jagtap, president, the Nationalist Congress Party, Pune city, and former corporator of Wanowrie stated that the road work was pending due to clearance from PCB and Defence authorities. “I must thank Vinod Mathurwala and all others who helped us in expediting the process of road work completion,” he said.
