Pune: In a good news for the passengers at Pune Railway Station, water vending machines have been installed at platform number 1 recently. Thus, passengers can purchase pure drinking water at cheap prices from these machines.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Ramdas Bhise, Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) and PRO Pune Railways said, “The water vending machines have been installed on the railway station since October 16. Currently, the vending machines are present only on Platform no 1, one at the Mumbai end & the other at the Solapur end.”
As per further information shared by Bhise, the prices of the water bottles at the vending machines range from Rs 2 to Rs 20 as per the quantity as a 300ml bottle costs Rs 2/bottle & a 5-liter bottle costs Rs 20/bottle.
Previously, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) first installed two water vending machines at Pune Railway Station about a year ago. These machines stopped working a few months ago, causing inconvenience to the passengers.
Thus, the recent reinstallation of these vending machines on platform number 1, which Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dubey officially inaugurated, represents a positive change.
Passengers had few options after the water vending machine closure, which caused them great inconvenience. While there were taps for drinking water, the uncleanliness and dirt around them made them very difficult to use, so many passengers had to buy bottled water instead.
However, passengers can now have pure drinking water at very cheap rates from the water vending machines at Pune Railway Station.
