Pune: Several traders and commission agents at Pune’s Market Yard in the Gultekdi area are going to suspend their trade on November 1, Wednesday, to show their support for the Maratha reservation agitation. The market workers’ union is also supporting this and is calling for a day-long bandh on the same day.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, a Pune Market Yard official, requesting anonymity said, “The APMC operations would not be hampered as the Market Committee hasn’t decided to shut trade. Many traders, commissioner agents etc will shut their operations for one day i.e. on November 1 as they have extended support to the Maratha reservation agitation. The rest of the APMC operations will run as usual.”

As per further information shared by the Market Yard official, on October 30, the association of traders and commission agents at the Pune Market Yard sent a letter to the Pune APMC about their support to the ongoing fast by Manoj Jarange Patil in Jalna.

Farmers have been advised not to transport their produce on November 1. The Market Yard workers union has agreed to support this decision. Market Yard traders and commission agents will also take part in a cyclical fast at Market Yard gate number 1.
