The Pimpri Chinchwad Citizens Forum (PCCF) has put forward a comprehensive Green City Action Plan aimed at bolstering Pimpri-Chinchwad’s commitment to sustainable development. The recommendations cover various aspects of environmental management and urban planning.

PCCF advocates for a complete ban on plastic bags and suggests the local corporation should manage waste collection and disposal. They propose halting river development projects in favor of rejuvenation efforts and introducing an Environment Police to enforce protection acts.

For river rejuvenation, the plan includes removing encroachments, building retaining walls, and establishing a GIS-based monitoring system for nallas. It also calls for sewage treatment plants to be solar-powered and suggests setting up wastewater treatment facilities for villages along rivers.

The proposed “Waste to Wealth Technology Park” aims to convert waste into valuable products using innovative technologies. The park should match IT and BT standards and offer incentives to businesses.

The plan seeks to improve the city’s Swachh Bharat Mission ranking and suggests adding new categories such as “Cleanest Air City” and “Cleanest River City.”

To enhance solar energy use, PCCF proposes installing solar grids on government buildings and promoting floating solar panels on local dams. For e-vehicles, the plan recommends establishing charging stations and offering purchase incentives.

Other recommendations include increasing green cover, monitoring air pollution, and creating a groundwater cell to manage rainwater harvesting. Finally, the forum urges action on global warming and climate change, emphasizing local implementation of climate justice measures.
