PCMC instructs roadside vendors to keep separate bins for waste or face action

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has issued a notification that roadside vendors should mandatorily keep two waste bins for dry and wet waste by December 15, 2021 or face stringent fine. If the vendors are found not adhering to the notice, they shall be heavily penalised.

As per the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, it is compulsory for all those who generate waste to segregate it at source. The rules are applicable for residential as well as other establishments to handover segregated waste. It also mentions that the roadside vendors should also keep two bins (for dry and wet waste).

The PCMC also notified that residential societies and other establishments should also mandatorily keep two bins. PCMC has informed that the civic body will stop picking up the waste of societies not adhering and handing over non segregates waste from January 1, 2022 impose heavy fine, everyday thereafter.
