PCMC invites suggestions from citizens on ‘Connected Green’ initiative

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation seeks suggestions from the citizens over creating the city greener. In its 2030 goal, Smart City Pimpri Chinchwad seeks suggestions from the citizens on how the city can be made greener by introducing green initiatives in the city. 

In this program, all PCMC gardens shall be connected with footpaths and cycle tracks. The inaugural ceremony to begin this initiative was held on October 29, 2020 which was inaugurated at the hands of Pimpri Chinchwad Mayor Usha Dhore. PCMC shall be the first corporation to have introduced this concept across India. This is an extraordinary project that shall allow them to stay connected with nature as well as build their own fitness. There are 184 public gardens developed by the corporation till date and also keeping in mind the future development work few spaces have been kept reserved. These gardens shall be inspired from Singapore’s Connector Network, Sydney’s Connected Grid, New York’s  Connected Park and Italy’s Connected Forest. 

Advantages of this Connected Green :

1. To improve the utilisation of walking up to the parks and promote walking or cycling.

2. Ensure the citizens are safe while at the park

3. To maintain the green cover of the city and reduce pollution
