PCMC offices to turn plastic free soon

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Patil has issued orders prohibiting use of single use plastic (non recyclable) in all municipal establishments. Those found using such plastic shall be strictly fined. The order shall be applicable to PCMC headquarters, all ward offices, tax offices, divisional offices, all schools, hospitals, clinics and all programs organised by the civic body. 

As per the notification issued on March 23, 2018, plastic is non degradable, Maharashtra government had prohibited manufacturing, sale, use, transport, handling, stocking of plastic. Keeping in mind this notification, PCMC issued an order prohibiting use of non degradable plastic made items in all PCMC establishments. 

Patil has suggested that drinking water bottles must be replaced with steel glass or metal base bottles. Stern action against those violating the rules shall be fined by the concerned department head. Incase, even after the notification is issued and employees are found using such non degradable plastic, concerned department head shall be held responsible and fined shall be imposed.
