Pimpri-Chinchwad: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has bagged the first rank by getting 6.23 points out of 10 in the ‘e-Governance’ index report published amongst 27 Municipal Corporations across Maharashtra.

The survey was conducted on the basis of services, transparency, availability, an official government website, mobile app and social media handles, among others.

The e-governance of municipal corporations in the state is reviewed every year by the Policy Research Organization (PRO).

The organisation publishes the E-Governance Index of the Municipal Corporation every year by studying the websites of the Municipal Corporations in the state based on the three findings of service, transparency and availability.

The Policy Research Organization’s e-Governance Index is the only study project of its kind. The first and foremost objective of compiling this index is to empower citizens and government agencies equally, to facilitate citizen participation in the advancements in information technology, to provide new platforms for information exchange and service delivery, to interact with the government and citizens through the digital revolution, and at the urban and rural self-government levels.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation had secured the first rank last year too. This year the organization changed the criteria and conducted an extensive evaluation. PCMC’s website, mobile app and social media were evaluated separately on all three fronts, the municipality got good marks on all these fronts and won the first rank in the state. Among the main criteria, the website and mobile app performed well in terms of availability, service and transparency.
