Pune: Air pollution in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area has been increasing continuously for the past few years. Air quality is deteriorating day by day due to increasing urbanization and industrialization. As a result, the environment department of PCMC has taken the initiative to install Air Bin purifiers and mist fountains to tackle air pollution.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sanjay Kulkarni, Joint City Engineer (Environment), PCMC said, “Yes, the PCMC is planning to set up ‘Air Bin Purifier’ & ‘Mist Fountain’ in various parts of Pimpri Chinchwad like Kokane Chowk, Talawade Chowk, Kaspate Wasti & more areas.”
As per further information, the level of pollutant particles in the air has increased. Due to this, citizens are suffering from colds, coughs, shortness of breath etc. The number of vehicles has increased tremendously in the city. Fine particles are mixed with the air. Also, the dust in the construction sector is increasing. As a result, citizens are now breathing polluted air. Considering this, Air Bin purifiers & mist fountains will be installed at important intersections in the city.
